Equipment
1. 3 Different containers to hold ice cubes - a rectangular one, a circular one and one other shape
2. Water
3. Stopwatch/timer
4. Small medicine cup with measurement at 1mL intervals
Method
1. Fill three little parts within each ice cube container with about 10ml (can be other) of water.
2. Put each into the freezer noting which one went in first
3. Wait a couple of hours until each is definitely frozen
4. Take each out remembering which one went in first.
5. Once all is out start stopwatch
6. After 15 min - half an hour observe and record the results
7. Check again in an hour
8. Check again in two
9. Repeat step 7 until all ice cubes have melted
10. Repeat steps 1-7 on 3 different days with different temperatures
Variables include:
1. The weather
2. Time of day
3. How much water is put into each little compartment
4. The shape of the ice cube
How the variables are controlled:
1. The experiment will be repeated on three separate days with three different temperatures - once during warm weather, cold weather and cool weather
2. All will be done at the same time of day e.g. 5pm or mid day etc.
3. Same amount of water will be measured and put into each ice cube part to be frozen
4. 3 different containers with different shapes will be bought
