Final Method inc. variable etc.

Equipment
1. 3 ice cube trays
2. water
3. timer
4. cooking set with measurements
5. Plastic lids

Method
1. All 3 ice cube trays were cleaned out
2. Each compartment was filled with 7.5mL of water
3. All 3 ice cube trays were put into the freezer at the same time
4. A couple of hours later, all three were taken out at the same time
5. Two ice cubes from each different size was put onto different plastic lids
6. A third ice cube from each different size was also taken out and the surface area of each was measured and noted down.
7. The time was noted
8. Every hour a picture was taken to record results.
9. Step 7 was repeated until the ice cube was almost finished melting.
10. Once the ice cube was almost melted, the total time for the ice cube to melt was recorded
11. Once complete all equipment was washed and put away.
12. All results were documented and recorded
13. A table was drawn up determining if the surface area and shape changed the rate of the ice cube melting.

How the variables were controlled:
1. All ice cube compartments were filled with 7.5mL of water ONLY
2. Two of each ice cube was used to determine the average rate of melting
3. All ice cubes were put into the freezer and taken out at the same time
4. Any water spillages were cleaned up with a cloth
5. Ice cubes were placed on plastic lids so as not to melt on tables
6. All ice cubes were placed in the same room so that the temperature of the room didn't changed the results
